No. It stays hidden while they type, and it's blanked out inside the example sentence and the meaning too — otherwise the answer gives itself away.
Only for the real example sentences and word meanings, which come from a free dictionary. The reading aloud, the hints and the score all run offline. The site also loads Google Analytics when there's a connection — there's a question on that below.
The spelling list, what your child types and their scores stay in your browser and are never sent anywhere. The site does use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages get opened. That sets a cookie and records the usual visit statistics — rough location, device, browser — but it never sees the words or the answers.
